Вот две рецы по поводу Сулена. Правда на Инглише, но зато все ясно

The Sullen Sulcus is the follow-up to the amazing doom/death release that was Dust, which seemingly came from nowhere to be the best doom album of the last 5 years in my humble opinion. In general this album is a little bit more focused and is akin to the song Autumnal Fires from Dust. The production is also a bit better, the vocals are more upfront in the mix. All 6 songs are over 10 minutes long as well.
The Words That Crawled begins with some great spoken vocals, kinda reminiscent of Aaron of My Dying Bride. The lyrics are absolutely great, and fit perfectly with the atmosphere that is akin to the music of Skepticism only a tad more brutal. The interchange between growls and clean vox really comes off well.
It Almost Looked Human was also on the reissue of Dust, so some people are familiar with it already. I really dig the drumming in this song, and here I'd like to mention that it's gotta be hard to be a doom drummer and play slow all the time. The riffs in this song stand out, and give a distinctive style to Mourning Beloveth. They're most like the song Dust on the first album. The song has a nice tempo, sort of floating along if you will which keeps with the general atmosphere of the album. Darren(growls) and Frank(clean) again do a wonderful job of trade off vox, which is really a kind of trademark of this band.
The Insolent Caul is the third song on here, and it starts out with some clean singing parts. This track kinda reminds me of the famous Sear Me song by MDB, especially the beginning. Except I'd venture to say that Mourning Beloveth have heavier riffing and slower speed than the English lads. "To walk among intricate ordeals to survive artificial heaven" is just one example of the melancholy which is represented in the lyrics.
Narcissistic Funeral begins with "Opened my veins yesterday" - sounds good says I. The riffing is again similar as throughout the album, don't expect Nuclear Assault-like thrash breaks or anything. This song also reminds me a bit of Opeth. Especially the part "there is something painful..."
My Sullen Sulcus is supposed be the title track of some sort on here. In short it's a song that's pretty similar to the first 4 on here lasting over 11 or so minutes.
Anger's Steaming Arrows is the closer on here. Again we start with some growling by Darren. The lyrics are again beautiful in a depressed way, which is kinda what Mourning Beloveth are about.
I'd also like to mention the artwork and the beautiful booklet courtesy of Paul McCarrol. It's truly magnificient.
Overall, an excellent follow-up to Dust, and if the recent rumors are correct a new album is in the makings for 2004. I for one cannot wait, especially after missing them live (thanx blackout you cunt) but that's another story.

My Dying Bride has nothing on these guys and to some thats saying alot! The Sullen Sulcus is a doom masterpiece and the finest effort of it's sub-genre (doom/death) and of the heaviest albums in existence. This band hails of Ireland and they know their metal and they are quite slow but still know what melody is.
All the songs on here are rather long usually ranges from 10-12 minutes in length but never get boring. My favorite song is the opener "The Words that Crawled" a very beautiful song! This is defiantley my pick of the year nothing else comes close. This album should appeal to fans of Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, & Shape Of Despair. "
