Current line-up: Daemon - guitars, bass and vocals (Limbonic Art, ex-Zyklon) Arghamon - drums Discography: Torment Rides Forever - 2004 The Dark Prophecy - 2005 вот нашол интервью с Даемоном на английском: Hell-o Lords of Metal. This is Daemon answering your questions on behalf of Sarcoma Inc. Sarcoma Inc. was really a solo side project that I started up when I was still playing fulltime with Limbonic Art, and as a session vocalist for Zyklon's early debut in the extreme metal scene. When I finally decided to end with both of these bands, I got more time to work on my own music project. I started up this project Sarcoma Inc. in 2000. Containing ideas that were not fit for the other projects I was working with. I then met with the drummer named Arghamon and he became a permanent member of the band project Sarcoma Inc. since 2001. We have by now recorded two albums self financed. And the first is already released on our own label of illusion named Epidemic Music Norway. This label is already defunct, so please send all your requests directly to [email protected] and pray for an answer!
First of all, I would like to congratulate you with your debut CD. It is very good and contains truly metal music. Are you satisfied with the result? Is there anything you would do differently if you could do it all over again? The result on our debut album "Torment Rides Forever" is quite okay. Very cold and primitive sounding metal indeed. Since everything concerning Sarcoma Inc. is self financed, we had a rather low budget on this recording. And that is the main reason why it turned out the way it did. It was recorded in five days at a school for sound technical education, and it was a student at this school that helped us with the recording process. He was quite young with a background within new age extreme metal. Sarcoma Inc. wanted to have a raw and unpolished old sound, and he did a lot of effort in fulfilling our wishes. It was a nice experience to be in the studio with this new project of mine. Even if everything became very hectic and stressful during those two weekends it took. We managed to record eight metal songs plus one ambient track from hell. We have saved one song as a bonus track for the LP version, if we ever can get it out for real one day. It is rather difficult to say what would have been different if we did the production all over again today. We are musicians that learn for each step we make. And we will always try to make things more unique. "Torment Rides Forever" was a pure metal experiment in studio on a low budget. We had a little bit more money involved in the second full-length recording. I was quite impressed by the straight-forward thrash sound of 'Torment Rides Forever'. Is this a CD on which you go back to your roots? After nine years with drum-computer in Limbonic Art, it was so fucking cool to pick up the really old feeling again by having a drummer to work with. Some of the first ideas I made for Sarcoma Inc. was pure old school speed thrash metal with the nasty sounding of the 80's. And I felt that it needed a person that understand how it shall sound on the drums. When I met with Arghamon he was influenced by both old school and new metal. He brought a lot of constructive impulses into the band, and together we have formed the musical style of Sarcoma Inc. – I will personally always be faithful to my roots, and that shall always be reflected in my music. But music can be a very abstract thing, and for me it is a never-ending magical universe. I am always very interested in the evolution of a song. How do you write your music? Where do your ideas come from? Sarcoma Inc. is a band that does a lot of brainstorming on rehearsal nights. We just start up playing something extreme and then everything develop rather fast. We record every rehearsal session, so we can always go back and find forgotten pieces of music. It feels like an exorcism of demonic powers that forms into metal music, sort of a detonation of inner feelings like wrath, hatred and aggression. The inspiration to play comes from deep inside our souls. It is only a necessary ritual to survive as the beings that we are. Probably not a lot of people know what "sarcoma" means, but those who do might be offended by your band name. Have you thought about this? Why have you named your band Sarcoma Inc.? As far as I am concerned, the extreme metal music has always been like a "cancer" in the normal religious and political regimes that we all live in. I therefore found the title Sarcoma Inc. very suitable for my new metal underground project - A black plague of horror. Daemon, you used to perform in Limbonic Art. I have to admit that I am unaware of the music by this band. I downloaded some mp3's and became quite impressed by this band. There is a big difference between Sarcoma Inc. and Limbonic Art. What is the reason for starting Sarcoma Inc.? Yes, I was the one who started up Limbonic Art sometime in the past 90's. But after almost ten years with composing music together with other persons, I started Sarcoma Inc. as a side project to Limbonic Art. I also felt like playing something else than just symphonic orchestrated metal with drum computer. Since I grew up during the 1980's metal revolution, I am very much inspired by that phenomenon. It was a very interesting experience for me as a musician artist to play with Limbonic Art. But when we decided to split up the band right after the last album, I concentrated only on making material for Sarcoma Inc.
You have divided the instruments between the two of you. How will you do this live? Or are you a just a studio-band? Sarcoma Inc. is basically a studio band, since I prefer to do all the string instruments myself. We have however done three live shows with a session bass player. But those concerts were rather exclusive. One time we supported Mayhem. After that we did a local metal festival, and so finally a support gig for Cadaver. All the live acts were in Norway. There are no more plans about making live shows. Not a lot of metal bands are able to live off their music. How is it with you? Do you have regular jobs besides playing in the band? We are both metal maniacs and we live and die for the metal music indeed. We can however not survive from this music as it is by now. But we are not into this because of the money either. It is for the sake of our individual artistic persons. There is some working on the side of the band from time to time to be able to survive. But the will to serve as a fucking slave somewhere for shitty money is rather not so interesting. We want to cultivate our music and art instead! What will the future of Sarcoma Inc. look like? Sarcoma Inc. have already recorded the second album titled "The Dark Prophecy" with nine tracks of pure metal. And I hope to get it out as soon as possible. But since everything is self-financed it is working slow. We are at the moment preparing for studio to record the third album containing twelve new tracks. The title for this album will so far be kept as a secret. But we will start up recording the winter anno-2004/2005. There is also a lot of more material waiting to be put together for a fourth album. But we are forced to take things one step at the time since we are limited by finances. Arghamon is also working hard with other band projects, so his time is very limited in periods. I would like to ask you some personal questions. What are you afraid of? How do you deal with the daily stress of life, the universe and everything? I am only afraid of leaving the earth before my dreams are fulfilled. I want to have a lot of work done before my departure from the mortals. I have for years isolated myself in the wilderness of Norway to avoid humanity and society. I worship the forces of nature and the cosmic universe. I salute all the wild living creatures that I meet in the forest that are not human, because this gives me powers to survive along with the music I make. But very often I struggle like hell because I am so sick and tired about everything else that surrounds me. The civilization eats up the wilderness and soon there are sick evidences of human existence everywhere. I look upon the man as a fucking parasite that infects and pollute life with their actions. If you could choose a movie to play in and a role to act, which movie and role would that be? I would have loved to be the fucking "Nemesis" in people's life, and then washed their pathetic existence away from the face of earth as a huge tornado. I totally hate to live in this "crypto-fascistic society", were everything is corrupted by money or progressive indoctrination of the individual spirit. I do neither need nor religion or politic in my life, but still I dwell on a planet that is obsessed by it!!! But beside from that scenario…; I have no specific movies or actors that I want to be! In other words, I just want to be myself as I am born. An enormous cosmic-sent force that walks proudly on this earth in the shape of a human being. My soul is half beast, half man. I am wild and I am almost free…! Thank you for your time and energy. I will leave the final words to you. I have honestly nothing more to say in this so-called e-mail interview. Keep up the metal spirit forever, and always play it for real!----- With sword in hand I now stand On my enemies land With a northern heart - I will fight until the day I die |
