Formed in early 2005, the Kungsängen / Stockholm based THIS ENDING, created as THE PLAGUE, involved former members of esteemed Black / Death Metal band A CANOROUS QUINTET. This antecedent act had issued an October 1994 EP, 'As Tears' released through Chaos Productions, two albums for No Fashion Records, 1996's 'Silence Of The World Beyond', recorded at Abyss Studios with HYPOCRISY's Peter Tägtgren acting as producer, and 'The Only Pure Hate' in 1998 crafted at Sunlight Studios with Tomas Skogsberg behind the desk, but would fold that same year.
Guitarist Leo Pignon later forged a similar Black Metal outfit NIDEN DIV. 187 with members of DAWN and THY PRIMORDIAL releasing two albums ‘Towards Judgement’ and ‘Impergium’ on Necropolis Records. Drummer Fredrik Andersson is better known for his role in premier Swedish Black Metal band MARDUK. Andersson also boasts credits with AMON AMARTH, TRIUMPHATOR and ALLEGIANCE.
Vocalist Mårten Hansen guested on OCTOBER TIDE’s 1999 album ‘Grey Dawn’. By 2000 both guitarist Linus Nirbrant and Andersson were involved with GUIDANCE OF SIN. The following year Andersson's services were requested by AMON AMARTH. The drummer also found space, alongside Pignon, to launch side venture CURRICULUM MORTIS in union with Mattias Leinikka from GUIDANCE OF SIN as lead vocalist. The debut demo 'Into Death' surfaced in 2003.
Andersson started up a fresh project band in 2003, LAID TO REST being a Death / Thrash Metal project featuring KAPUT! and ORCHARDS OF ODENWRATH guitarist Zack Z. Former members of A CANOROUS QUINTET, Mårten Hansen, Leo Pignon, Linus Nirbrant, Jesper Löfgren and Fredrik Andersson embarked upon a new band project, THE PLAGUE, in early 2005. In February 2006 the group, working with producer Linus Nirbrant, cut the demo 'Let The World Burn' at Offbeat studio in Stockholm. However, during these sessions the group switched title to THIS ENDING. The album 'Inside The Machine', released on December 1st, was again crafted utilising the Nirbrant / Offbeat Studios formula.
